Rattlesnake
Rattlesnake has been delivering sharp turns and sudden thrills at Chessington World of Adventures Resort since 1998. Originally part of the Calamity Canyon area, this classic coaster now sits within Forbidden Kingdom for 2026, following the transformation of Mexicana into the new World of Paw Patrol. However, despite its new surroundings, the ride still proudly carries much of its Wild West theming, hinting that future changes could still be on the horizon.
From the moment you arrive, the dusty mining town setting pulls you straight into outlaw territory. Weathered wood, rocky terrain, and winding pathways set the scene. Meanwhile, the looming presence of the Rattlesnake adds a playful sense of danger. The queue line twists through this desert environment, building anticipation as you edge closer to the ride.
Rattlesnake is a classic Maurer Wild Mouse coaster, and it fully embraces that reputation. After climbing the lift hill, you’re quickly thrown into a series of tight, hairpin turns. Each corner snaps you from side to side, creating those signature lateral forces fans love. Then, just as you begin to adjust, sudden drops and sharp braking moments keep you on edge throughout.
What makes Rattlesnake even more unique is its sunken setting. The track dives into a deep pit, originally part of the park’s former giraffe habitat. As a result, the ride feels hidden away, adding an extra layer of immersion before you even board. Moreover, this clever layout keeps much of the coaster out of sight, building suspense as the sounds of rattling track echo from below.
Although the park around it continues to evolve, Rattlesnake remains a firm favourite. Its mix of classic ride design, strong theming, and unpredictable layout keeps guests coming back. For now, it stands as a wild reminder of Chessington’s past, while also teasing what its future might hold.
