Safari Trail Planning Begins

3rd February 2012

Safari Trail Planning begins today, with Chessington World of Adventures submitting a new planning application. The plans detail the park’s desire to build a new Safari Trail attraction for 2013. The incredible new plans reveal just what the park hopes to build, and we’ve got the latest scoop.

Safari Trail

The plans show that the park intends to build a Safari Trail ride experience. During the attraction, guests will ride aboard large off-road vehicles as they travel through a series of animal enclosures. Furthermore, the plans suggest that the experience will follow a strong narrative, complete with a dedicated pre-show. As a result, guests are expected to take on the role of explorers in search of fascinating animals.

Animal Houses

The plans also reveal a series of new animal houses, which will collectively host three different species. Specifically, the experience is expected to feature flamingos, giraffes, and rhinos. Although the exact breeds remain unknown at this stage, the project will likely introduce the more common varieties of each species. Consequently, we anticipate seeing the Greater Flamingo and the Rothschild Giraffe included in the lineup.

The plans also state that it was originally planned to feature Mandrills. These, however, were omitted from plans and replaced with Flamingo.

Finale Cave

Plans also dictate that a large watery final cave experience will finish off the attraction. Adding to the story driver nature of the attraction. The final scope and guise of this are unknown, but it’s exciting nevertheless. We look forward to taking a journey into the cave to discover what awaits inside.

Next Steps

With planning permission now being sought, the project team hopes to secure approval in the summer, allowing construction work to begin shortly afterwards and target a 2013 opening. However, this proposed timeline remains only a theory at this stage. Nevertheless, we’re excited that Safari Trail planning begins today, and we’ll be following the project closely as it develops.

Chessington Buzz looks forward to following the development of this wonderful new attraction. We cannot wait to check it out when it finally opens to the public
