Consultation Begins on New Themed Lands

19th September 2024

Consultation begins on new themed lands. Chessington World of Adventures has launched a public consultation on two major new developments. Coming shortly after the submission of plans for the resort’s proposed Water Park, known as Project Bruce, these new projects signal a bold next chapter for the theme park’s long-term growth strategy.

Project Refresh & Renew

Project Refresh & Renew marks a substantial transformation for the Wild Asia area. According to early consultation details, the project proposes a large indoor roller coaster, becoming one of the most significant ride investments in the park’s recent history.

Additionally, the popular Kobra attraction looks set to move to a new site within the development. Meanwhile, the existing Explorer Glamping accommodation is expected to be removed to make way for a modernised themed land.

Furthermore, the proposals include an indoor flat ride, a new restaurant, toilets, a gift shop, and dedicated sensory rooms. Together, these elements aim to enhance guest comfort while delivering a fresh, fully immersive environment.

Project Play

Meanwhile, Project Play focuses on revitalising the former Scorpion Express site. Early plans indicate a collection of child- and family-friendly attractions, reinforcing Chessington’s position as a leading family theme park.

Central to the proposal is a “My First Roller Coaster”, offering younger guests their first thrilling experience. Alongside this, the plans show a range of creative playscapes, interactive features, and vibrant new theming designed to inspire imagination throughout the re-envisioned area.

Planning Timeline

Although both projects remain in their consultation stages, Chessington intends to advance quickly. The resort aims to submit all new themed land applications by the end of 2024. Notably, Project Refresh & Renew is currently targeted for October, placing it firmly on the near-term horizon.

As consultation progresses, these developments promise to reshape key areas of the park and deliver ambitious new experiences for families in the years ahead. As always, Chessington Buzz will keep you up to date with the latest news as these projects develop.
